About the test

The National Certificates of Language Proficiency are language proficiency tests. They assess language skills in practical situations where you generally need to speak, listen, write or read in a foreign language.

The National Certificates of Language Proficiency assess four main skill components: speaking, listening comprehension, writing and reading comprehension.

You can use the certificate:

  • to demonstrate language proficiency in a job application

  • to demonstrate language proficiency required for work assignments

  • as part of your studies

  • to demonstrate the language proficiency required for the acquisition of Finnish citizenship.

Important information

To be able to participate in the test, you need a valid identification document. NOTE: A driving license is not a valid document.
